Embedded & Critical Systems Security

Some systems don't get a second chance. Defense platforms, aircraft, medical devices and critical infrastructure ship once, stay in the field for years, and have to hold against a capable, patient adversary — often with the device in hand. 6QURE secures them from the silicon up.

Threat Modeling · Root of Trust · Secure Boot · Attestation · Platform Isolation · Supply Chain · Assurance

The work starts from consequence, not technology: what the system must never be allowed to do, and what an adversary would have to defeat to make it. From there it runs down through the whole stack — because trust in a system is only as strong as its weakest layer, and the layers trusted most by default, silicon and firmware, are usually the least examined. We build security into the product before it ships and work bottom-up: a root of trust in hardware, carried through boot, identity and the platform above, proven under certification and assurance. AI at the edge and post-quantum cryptography don't change that discipline; they raise the bar for it. The seven disciplines below follow that path, from the threat model down to the proof that holds it up.

01

Threat Modeling for Critical Systems

Every control starts from the same question: what must never be allowed to happen, and what would an adversary have to do to cause it. We model the whole system the way an attacker sees it — including the paths that aren't on the network diagram: physical access, maintenance interfaces, the supply chain and the operational context the device actually lives in — and design the trust boundaries and failure modes backward from the outcomes that are not survivable.

02

Hardware Root of Trust & Side-Channel Resistance

Every layer of trust above the hardware depends on what's true at the silicon itself — and in an embedded system the attacker often has the device in hand. We establish a hardware root of trust and build the countermeasures around it: against power and timing analysis, electromagnetic leakage, fault injection and physical tampering — so that holding the device is not the same as holding what's inside it.

03

Secure Boot & Firmware Integrity

A device has to prove it's running the software it left the factory with — at every boot, for its entire service life, and after every legitimate update. We build verified boot chains, signed and anti-rollback firmware, and update paths that fail safe in the degraded, disconnected conditions these systems actually operate in.

04

Device Identity, Provisioning & Attestation

A critical device has to carry a trustworthy identity from the factory floor to the end of its service life, and be able to prove, on demand, what it is and what state it's in. We design how identities and keys are provisioned — securely, at scale, without a human validating each unit — and the attestation mechanisms that let a device, and the systems around it, verify what it is rather than take it on faith.

05

Platform Security & High-Assurance Isolation

Safety-critical, security-critical and untrusted functions increasingly share one platform and one piece of silicon. Above the boot chain sit the operating environment, the isolation boundaries and the services every function relies on — and keeping those functions apart, so a fault or a compromise in one cannot reach another, is an architecture decision before it is a coding one. We harden the platform directly and design the partitioning, least-privilege boundaries and controlled cross-domain paths that have to hold under both failure and attack.

06

Supply Chain & Component Integrity

A critical system is only as trustworthy as the silicon, firmware and third-party components inside it — over a lifecycle measured in years, not release cycles. We build the visibility and controls to know what is actually in a product, verify it is genuine, and manage the risk that something in the chain is not what it claims to be.

07

Assurance & Certification for Safety- and Mission-Critical Systems

High-consequence domains require proof, not assurances — evidence that stands up to an independent assessor, a certification authority, or a customer trusting the system with lives or a mission. We engineer systems and the evidence behind them to meet the assurance and certification regimes these fields demand, and bring safety and security into a single, coherent argument that holds up under external scrutiny.

In a critical system, security isn't a feature you add. It's the property that decides whether the system can be trusted at all.
